That’s right…you’ve probably noticed that the above items are either light in weight, have multiple uses, or both.



What is likely a D-bar in this GI's right pocket - the man in the background is also sporting a noticeably full coat.



Juuust right...



The M43 was also well-liked, as it made it even easier for GI's to live "out of their pockets" - you should strive to look this filthy.

In other words, “lose” the following:
1928 pack/1936 bag
Load-bearing suspenders
Shaving Brush
Shaving Soap
Shaving Mirror
Towels
Flashlight
Red-Cross made sewing kits
